KARAGÖZ LOVE FOR TREES, presented by Ali Nihat YAVŞAN, is a play designed to introduce and endear our traditional shadow play to all ages, especially children.
After the dialogue section, the main play begins.
In the main play, Karagöz and Hacivat's house is on one side of the mirror. A magic tree is in the middle of the mirror. The gardener is watering the tree with a watering can. The gardener's son is playing on one side. Karagöz talks to the gardener about the love of trees. The gardener goes to water the other trees. Despite Karagöz's warnings, the gardener's son starts swinging on the branch of the tree. Just then, the branch breaks.
Karagöz gets angry at him. The child runs away. At that moment, Hacivat arrives and, seeing the branch on the ground, thinks Karagöz broke it. Then the broken branch moves and transforms Karagöz into a donkey. Seeing this, Hacivat starts laughing. This time, the tree branch transforms Hacivat into a goat.
The two friends try to return to their original forms. In the end, first Hacivat and then Karagöz return to their former selves. Hacivat angrily comes with an axe to cut down the tree. The gardener, Karagöz, and the audience get involved, and the situation is resolved. The play ends with the theme of Love for Trees.
